DPLA's Launch Event Cancelled

Dan Cohen, Executive Director of the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), sent out a message yesterday announcing the cancellation of the events surrounding the DPLA's launch.  They would have taken place at the Boston Public Library which was in the immediate vicinity of the tragic explosions in Boston. Kathryn Blackmer Reyes and Lillian Castillo-Speed, DLAG members, had been planning to attend.  The DPLA Board is planning an even larger event for the fall, which Kathryn and Lillian hope to attend.

Digital Latino Heritage Fairs

As a response to the overwhelming interest expressed in our focus groups we are in the process of seeking funding to organize digital heritage fairs. We are structuring these heritage fairs in a way to provide learning opportunities, hands-on use of technology, and the preservation of Latino digital artifacts in a database. If your library is interested in hosting a Latino heritage site please contact the Latino Digital Archive Group:

LDAG @ Launch of Digital Public Library of America

Kathryn Blackmer Reyes and Lillian Castillo-Speed, both members of the Latino Digital
Archive Group and co-directors of our current project, "Preserving History: Establishing a
National Latino Digital Archive," will be attending the much-anticipated launch of the
Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).  The event takes place on April 18 and 19 at the
Boston Public Library.  They will be providing information about our project with the
goal of advocating for the representation of Latino culture and history in major digital
initiatives such as the DPLA.  For more information on the DPLA and the launch,
